Bourbon Dragon

kegnhopsI just got a Rogue press release for upcoming Green Dragon events and felt this might interest people. This Friday the Green Dragon is hosting Cigars and Beer. Now I’m thinking that the cigars will be relegated to the outdoors, so if that part doesn’t interest you, you can probably stay indoors, safe from the grey ghostly fumes and not smell like old man for the rest of the evening. Guaranteed to be more in your interest zone is the beer list however:

Allegash Curiex-Ale aged in oak bourbon barrel

Great Divide Yeti-Espresso Oak aged Yeti Imperial Stout

Double Mountian Terrible 2-Bourbon Barrel brown ale

Deschutes mirror mirror-oak aged barley wine

Full Sail Black Gold Imperial Stout- oak bourbon barrel aged

While I’m not going to even attempt to estimate the pricing, the line up looks amazing for sure.

yesterday they were getting 4.75 for a small taster-type glass full of walking man jaywalker

    4oz or 8oz? I need a scale of cheapness.

They were half-pints… and it was worth it – oh man, was it worth it… plus the Abbey Rode and this year’s Sasquatch Legacy; it was a great showing from the consistently great Walking Man.

Should have mentioned that this didn’t start until 5:00. I’m regretting not spending my 1/2 day elsewhere.

Sorry, they didn’t list a time in the press release, hope the beers were good though.

Allagash’s Curieux wasn’t nearly as smooth as last year’s batch that made the rounds (closer to their normal Tripel if that’s your thing – it’s not mine), and I detected no Jim Beam whatsoever (not that it was ever particularly overt, but at least there was an impression) – instead noticing the scent of wine (different barrels this year?).

Double Mountain’s Terrible Two, OTOH, was whisky, whisky and brown. :) Star of my show… unfortunately, that’s all I could handle that evening, as I’d just come from Saraveza’s tapping of a firkin of Upright Six (interesting twist on a brown… more dried fruit, less roasted malt – and the customary “twang” of most cask-conditioned beers… I’ll have to try this on CO²), where, whilst waiting for the firkin to settle, I also sampled Cascade’s Vienna Delight… I’m not sure from which part of Vienna this comes, but they use a lot of hops there. I’d call it a semi-aggressive pale, and that’s good in my book.

Oh, and I guess inflation must have taken its toll on the move to the patio, as snifters/pilsners were now $5. I’ll take the Jaywalker, please?
